Drawing the Word by Word Presents series to a close, we're so excited to welcome Nikesh Shukla! He will be sharing tips on how to edit your work and keep inspired.

Nikesh will use over a decade's worth of teaching and his experience as a published author to help you edit your own work. The hard work in writing is in editing, refining, rewriting and redefining your work.
Nikesh will help you to do this, through tips on practically setting up an edit, how to read your own work, how to keep yourself motivated, how to move between big picture edits and smaller sentence by sentence rewrites.
+ The first 8 tickets on sale are open to black and people of colour only.
+ The final 4 tickets will go on sale shortly and are open to anyone else who would like to join.
+ No prior experience necessary (aged 18 or over).

What to bring to the workshop:
+ If you're able, please bring a pen and notebook.
+ As this workshop is focused on editing, please bring a 500 word extract* of your work to look at with Nikesh

By joining this workshop you are also invited to share any work you have written, whether during the workshop or in your own time to us for our Zine: Issue 2. The Zine will be a celebration and showcase of you and your works, and will launch mid-summer at the end of the project with an event at The Bush Theatre! Submissions are open now. Nikesh Shukla is a novelist and screenwriter. He is the author of Coconut Unlimited (shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award), Meatspace and the critically acclaimed The One Who Wrote Destiny. Nikesh is a contributing editor to the Observer Magazine and was previously their columnist. Nikesh is the editor of the bestselling essay collection, The Good Immigrant, which won the reader's choice at the Books Are My Bag Awards.
He co-edited The Good Immigrant USA with Chimene Suleyman. He is the author of two YA novels, Run, Riot (shortlisted for a National Book Award) and The Boxer (longlisted for the Carnegie Medal). Nikesh was one of Time Magazine’s cultural leaders, Foreign Policy magazine's 100 Global Thinkers and The Bookseller's 100 most influential people in publishing in 2016 and in 2017.
He is the co-founder of the literary journal, The Good Journal and The Good Literary Agency. Nikesh is a fellow of the Royal Society Of Literature and a member of the Folio Academy. Nikesh’s book, Brown Baby: A Memoir Of Race, Family And Home was released on Bluebird in February 2021. His latest book, Your Story Matters will be released in March 2022.
